"My mural is dedicated to the iconic phrase that in America, dreams can come true; that anyone, with effort, hard work, and perseverance, can achieve success. And while this mural is painted on a building that helps people experiencing homelessness, which might seem ironic, it actually represents exactly that: even those who, due to various circumstances, find themselves in difficult situations are still given the opportunity to move forward. The eagle in full flight symbolizes the path toward the future, and the sun behind it represents a new beginning. In other words, each day is a new opportunity to take flight."

This wall, as well as the companion painting on view at Upper Level Gallery mark the beginning of the harvest from my garden this year. You'll see a lot of cosmos, I got some seeds from my nephew Nello and planted some in a couple places. The bunch I planted in the front of the garden will be a large part of how I remember this year's garden. They grew tall and would wave in the wind, eventually settling in a fortunate bow, allowing the different colors to layer in viewing.

Collaboration with Special Collections archives at UMKC celebrating historic drag nightlife in the neighborhood. The three club acknowledged in composition are Milton’s Jazz Club, the Jewel Box and the Colony. The two figures are an anonymous person in drag standing in front of the mosaic wall at the Colony and performer Edye Gregory.
